The purpose of SHOUT is to meet the developmental, physical, emotional, social, educational, intellectual and spiritual needs of at risk youth. SHOUT will provide a therapeutic and social environment in which at risk youth and their families will address issues that negatively impact their relationships and if left untreated will prevent future reunification as well as hinder the youth’s potential for independence and success.

ABOUT

I am a Graduate of California State University of Bakersfield. I majored in Psychology and received a minor in Criminal Justice. My goal is to create a benchmark for the type and quality of care provided to at risk youth currently in the system. As a former at risk youth, I understand many of the issues youth of today face. I was born and raised in Bakersfield California and have been a care giver for more than half my life. I have known for a very long time that my passion was making a difference in the lives of others. Growing up, getting into trouble seemed to come easy. Stealing and physically violence were my two favorite methods of expression.  For me it was family and athletics that saved me from continuing down a path there may have been no coming back from. I got my first job at a residential care facility in 2014 and quickly realized that this home environment was literally one step from incarceration. The environment was not conducive to the needs of children. The staff was cold and unwilling to assist with needs beyond those required for the job.  Not too long after that I realized the only way to enact change was to do it myself.  I have the knowledge and skills needed to not only improve the Quality of life for youth in need, but also make sure they become productive members of society. These youth deserve to feel like part of a family, to have the support network that having a family comes with; they are young and deserve to act like children and not be thrown into the adult world due to circumstance or some adult’s negligence. SHOUT will ensure that that is the case.

I am a California State University graduate for Business Management. In addition to that knowledge I also have three children of my own who are all above average in their social and educational development. My goal with our clients is to improve their knowledge of Economics and Technology as to help the clients create their own opportunities. I am qualified to do this because of my many years experience in the group home and child care industry. When I was 15 years old, I moved from my mother's home. By that, I mean I decided it was much easier to not have rules and to run away. That was the beginning of my struggles as a youth. From that point, until I met my wife, I made one bad choice after another. From deciding to smoke cigarettes to sleeping around at 15/16 years old. I continued to make bad choices, even though I knew they were negative. All of these negative roads I decided to go down, I did alone, because I thought no one was looking out for me and I thought I was a burden on those around me. What I did not know was that everyone around me had issues of their own and still pushed on, making the right decisions. When I met my wife, I was 20 years old, and she told me I had so much potential and for once I believed it. After working diligently for the past ten years, I am now a 30-year-old husband and father of three. I have not only earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from California State University, but now I am a successful entrepreneur, and one that really enjoys his career. I have ten years as a father in addition to 6 years of experience as a Child Care Worker and as a Facilities Manager.
